Michelin Guide Chicago 2022: See all the Stars

Chicago has four more Michelin-starred eateries for 2022, taking the Windy City's total up to 23 starred restaurants.

Four Chicago newcomers joined the guide for the first time this year, each receiving one star: chef Trevor Teich's contemporary Claudia with a creative prix-fixe; husband and wife team, chef Jenner Tomaska and Katrina Bravo's Esmé; Zach Engel's, personal take on modern Middle Eastern cuisine at hot spot Galit; and contemporary Filipino restaurant Kasama, headed up by husband-and-wife chefs Tim Flores and Genie Kwon.

Grant Achatz' Alinea remains the benchmark for the city's fine dining scene, retaining its three-star award for a twelfth consecutive year, and is the only restaurant to represent the 'exceptional' category.

Achatz and his team famously pivoted to a take-out business during the pandemic, with the Chicago chef saying on Instagram: "The industry went deep and found grit that we didn’t know we possessed, or would need to the extent we have the last two years. We not only fought for our teams wellbeing in an unprecedentedly unknown and volatile time, we remained steadfast in providing hospitality to the people of Chicago when everyone needed it the most..."

Four restaurants remain in the two-star ranking, denoted as 'excellent cuisine, worth a detour'; and at the more affordable end of the dining spectrum, Chicago also has 55 Bib Gourmand restaurants, with seven new additions this year.
