The Michelin Guide unveiled its first ever edition dedicated to the Lone Star State last night at 713 Music Hall in Houston, with 15 new one-star restaurants.
The first ever Michelin Guide to Texas has been a long time coming with those in the know declaring the restaurant scene across the state and the booming dynamic cities of Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston among the best and most interesting in the country. The Michelin Guide finally rolled up to the southern state, assessed the dining scene, and awarded 15 one-stars and two green stars. Including Bib Gourmand restaurants, the Guide includes 117 restaurants, including 26 different cuisine types.
Austin is Texas’ standout dining destination with a total of seven Michelin stars awarded and two green stars for sustainability, followed by Hoston with five. Dallas and San Antonio bagged one apiece.
Texas BBQ was recognized as an important American cuisine with no less than four BBQ restaurants receiving a Michelin star, while the Mexican influence was recognized with two restaurants awarded. French, Indian, Japanese, Mediterranean, and Spanish cuisines were also represented.
