The Michelin Guide has announced its star selection for Spain and Portugal 2022, adding 32 new one-star restaurants and four new two-stars, but there were no new additions to the Guide’s top tier.
At a live-streamed event at the Palau de las Arts Reina Sofia opera house in Valencia, the Michelin Guide unveiled its star selection, despite the ongoing effects of the pandemic in Spain and Portugal. A number of restaurants lost their star distinctions, including two two-Michelin star restaurants, mostly due to closure. The number of starred venues comes to a total of 262, up ten from last year, despite closures; there are 211 one-star restaurants, 40 two-star establishments and 11 with three stars, demonstrating the strength of Iberian culinary creativity.
