The Michelin Guide Beijing 2021 has dropped with news of a new three-star vegetarian restaurant, one new two-star and seven new one-star establishments making the listing.
King’s Joy joins Xin Rong Ji in the three-star rakings for the city, and is also the first restaurant in Beijing to be awarded a Michelin Green Star. Helmed by chef Gary Yin, the restaurant delivers seasonal vegetarian dishes like honeylocust, fox nuts and peas and rice with assorted mushrooms and peach resin.
This was also the first time the Michelin Green Star has been unveiled in China, an award which aims to highlight role-model establishments at the forefront of sustainable gastronomy. The system has already been activated in France, the Nordic Countries, Germany, Slovenia, and Japan.
In total, 98 establishments were recognised by the guide, including two three-star restaurants, two two-stars, 26 one-stars, 17 Bib Gourmands and 51 Michelin Plates.
