Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, will pivot from its normal annual voted list, becoming Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2013-2021: Pasado y Futuro, instead celebrating the region’s broad and diverse gastronomic scene and supporting its recovery.
A one-off list of 100 restaurants will be revealed on 22 November during a series of live events, which will be held in key cities across the region. The restaurants will be picked according to the aggregated votes of the previous eight editions of the ranking since the awards’ inception in 2013, culminating in the announcement of The Greatest Restaurant in Latin America 2013-2021.
The ranking will also be accompanied by a series of special awards, which will focus on those individuals and restaurants that are helping to create positive change and a better future - including Latin America’s Best Female Chef Award and the American Express One To Watch Award, recognising a restaurant that opened within the last two years showing originality and promise - amongst many more.
Speaking about the one-off event, William Drew, director of content for Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, said: “We are excited to present this special one-off edition of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2013-2021: Pasado y Futuro. The local city events will give the gastronomic communities of Latin America the chance to come together again to celebrate the power of unity and recovery during challenging times. The ranking will also provide food-loving travellers with a powerful gastronomic reference point when international travel becomes the norm once again.”
