Andreas Caminada from three-Michelin-starred Schloss Schauenstein in Switzerland has made a splash this month, opening his first ever restaurant abroad. Named IGNIV Bangkok, the restaurant will centre around fine dining dishes to share, and is located inside The St. Regis Bangkok.
Speaking of his move to the vibrant Thai capital, the Swiss native said: "Bangkok is an amazing city. I love the deep connection it has with food, its rich culture and lively, bustling atmosphere - and Bangkok has become an internationally much-regarded culinary hotspot in recent years."
This will be the third addition to the IGNIV (meaning 'nest' in Caminada's mother-tongue Romansh) family, with two already in the Swiss Alps, in St.Moritz and Bad Ragaz, both with two Michelin stars.
Chef David Hartwig will lead the kitchen, and feature a light and seasonal menu using fresh ingredients from local and international distributors. The chef has long since worked alongside Caminada at his flagship restaurant in Switzerland and brings with him a wealth of experience on the international fine dining scene. "Guests can expect a thought through, but easy and not stuffy, full experience in terms of choice of dishes, cooking techniques, products, flavour profile and balance of seasoning," he says.

Joining Hartwig will be the 30-year-old sous chef/pastry chef Arne Riehn, who will also be in charge of the signature IGNIV Candy Store, a sweet gastronomic journey that continues after dessert. He also arrives from Andreas Caminada's team in Fürstenau, Switzerland, where he was responsible for the organic wood-fired stone oven bakery and its fine selection of handcrafted artisan breads.
Step inside, and discover a comfortable retreat with cozy modern interiors, pairing colourful fabrics and refined fabric boiseries, in-keeping with the nest theme, designed by Spanish interior designer Patricia Urquiola.
