Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver, the team behind iconic London restaurant St. John, are to open another restaurant in the capital.
The new restaurant will be located on London's Marylebone Lane and will open on Wednesday 19 October. With a focus on wine, it will offer many French labels, as well as some of St. John’s own vintage from their winery in La Liviniere, in the Minervois. The restaurant will be split into two parts - upstairs for walk-ins, and an open-plan dining room downstairs.
The new venue will be open all day, with coffees, breads and pastries available in the morning, and a classic English St. John menu for lunch and dinner, bolstered by changing daily specials. Leading the kitchen will be head chef Fintan Sharp, who will prepare classics such as onion soup; bone marrow toast and parsley salad; deep fried Welsh rarebit; and Middle White chop, chicory and sorrel.
The original St. John opened in Smithfield in 1994, and this new restaurant is Gulliver and Henderson’s first major opening in over a decade, after St. John Bread and Wine restaurant in Spitalfields, and bakeries in Neal's Yard and Borough.
