Fans of Marco Pierre White are being asked to fork out nearly £7K for a three-day “gastronomy experience” with the chef, in Scotland. However, some people are surprised at the price.
Love him or loathe him, Chef Pierre White certainly knows which side his bread is buttered on and the three day May break by Satopia Tavel, billed as a “Spring Gastronomy Experience hosted by Marco Pierre White”, will bring fans of the chef to Inverness Scotland where they can dine on a menu designed by him and attend a masterclass with the man himself.
White the erstwhile three Michelin star chef remains a housewife’s dream, the chef has gotten into hot water recently when comments he made about "women being more emotional in the kitchen" saw critics label him a “rambling dinosaur” and “outdated”.
It would seem though, some people are still enamoured with the celebrity chef, but the hefty price tag of the three-day trip added grist to the ant-Marco mill. Food critic Jay Rayner – a judge on the BBC’s Great British Menu tweeted: “You can bung me a few quid and mistake me for Marco like loads of others do while I knock you up cheese on toast.”
It sparked a frenzy of Marco-bashing on Twitter with critics rowing in to slate the chef.
"Marco must think highly of himself. I could also visit the Riviera for that amount. Cheese on toast? I’m in.”
Another agreed: “7k for 3 days?????? £2,333.33 per day???? What are they eating? Marco lightly toasted and adorned with edible gold leaf, saffron and caviar?? On second thoughts I would pay more not to be faced with that image.
“Cheese on toast a la Rayner sounds a much better option #Mmmmm.”
Of course Chef Marco Pierre White won’t give a fig what people think of him and will continue to serve up food and controversy in his own inimitable way. He retains his legions of fans around the world who can look forward to a major feature film about the chef that will be produced by Russell Crowe’s company and will include the Australian playing the chef.
