Airbnb is launching "Cooking" on Airbnb Experiences and is looking for the best 100 home cooks worldwide, who will participate in cooking lessons with David Chang and his mother in a UNESCO world heritage site in Pollenzo, Italy.
Cooking experiences on Airbnb aim to "unlock the hidden culinary traditions of families all around the world", and is a step further in the short-term rentals company on its path to becoming a one-stop shop for everything related to your holiday. The company has been implementing a range of add-ons to its home rentals, allowing holidaymakers to 'experience' things such as walking tours with donkeys, to truffle hunting with dogs in Piedmonte.
It's not often that you get to stay at a beautiful Italian countryside palazzo and hang out with David Chang. The five-day course will consist of the founder of Momofuku and his mother, Sherri (below), dishing out some of their family favourites, and includes workshops and tastings to make you a better cook, at Slow Food's University of Gastronomic Sciences.
The once-in-a-lifetime experience comes with a catch though - applicants must send a treasured family recipe that Airbnb will retain all rights to in the future, that is, worldwide rights to “transform, edit, modify, reproduce, distribute, sub-license, transmit, publish, communicate to the public, broadcast, perform, display, or otherwise use”, whether you win a place in the contest or not.
