Restaurant blog Opinionated About Dining has released its annual list of the top 100+ restaurants in North America, alongside their three less formal lists of eateries found in North America.

Topping the list of 200 restaurants for a fourth consecutive year is Blaine Wetzel’s The Willows Inn restaurant, located on Lummi Island in Washington State.

Chef and Washington state native Wetzel, who was also a 2018 James Beard Award Semi-Finalist, has built up the restaurant's reputation over the last decade. He is known for his progressive American cuisine, with tasting menu including dishes such as beet and rhubarb nigiri, lamb skewers, red mustard leaves with oregano, spiced fermented wildflowers and cauliflower and hazelnut hummus.

New at number two on the list is Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare in New York, while California’s SingleThread, which was named World’s 50 Best Restaurants One to Watch drops down to number three. San Francisco’s Saison is in fourth, while Somni in Los Angeles, California sits at fifth.

California’s dominance in US fine-dining continues, with six restaurants still in the top 20 compared to New York’s five.

Opinionated About Dining has also recently released a list of the 2020 North America Gourmet Casual restaurants in North America, with Rose’s Luxury, Washington, DC at number one. There's also a list of top heritage restaurants in North America, topped by Bazaar Meat by José Andrés in Nevada, and the 2020 North America Cheap Eats list with Tacos Los Cocuyos in Mexico City in number one spot (see the top ten in each category listed below).

The rankings take into consideration the opinions of thousands of registered reviewers, with greater weight given to those who visit more restaurants.
