If hygiene is one of the biggest factors for you when deciding where to eat out, you’re going to absolutely love this big data map of food hygiene in London.
Taking data from the Food Standards Agency - who work to mark all establishments with a rating of 0-5 on how hygienic they are - the team have created an interactive map that's simple and easy to use.
Users can usually find information about a specific place fairly quickly with many 4-5 star places proudly displaying their rating but until now it was hard to see all this info in one place.
Step in Caelum Contracts who have taken all the data from the Food Standards Agency and applied it to a simple interactive map.
Covering London, the map allows people to quickly search for a place by location, style or rating and find detailed info on every restaurant, bar or cafe in their area in just a few clicks. It’s a huge undertaking but one that shows how useful big data management done right can be - the map even lists supermarkets with a simple colour scheme so people can quickly see the best and worst performing places in their area.
