It's something Italians have known all along and now Americans do too: the best food for seduction comes from la bella Italia.
Those are the results of the 2014 Valentine's Day survey conducted by Zagat. When asked what is the best type of cuisine for a Valentine's Day celebration, 28 percent of participants preferred Italian cuisine, beating French food by just one percent.
Italian cuisine was preferred over contenders such as New American, Spanish/Tapas, Mexican, Japanese, Korean and Chinese to position itself as the best food for Amore.
So what's the secret behind Italian cuisine? Perhaps it's the pasta, the freshness of its ingredients or the great wine that accompanies the meals. There's also the mystique associated with the Made in Italy brand and the luxury concept of Live in Italian.

Italian food has evolved by leaps and bounds since it was immortalized half a century ago in the Spaghetti Kiss in Lady and the Tramp. Recently, Modern Farmer reported that mozzarella cheese dethroned cheddar as America's favorite cheese for the second year in a row.
Another survey performed by the USDA shows that Americans eat a lot of pizza. Eater reports that 1 in every 8 Americans ''consumed pizza on any given day.'' That rate shot up to 1 in 4 people ate pizza when looking at males 6 to 19 years old.
So, now you know. The way to anyone's heart may just be through a bowl of pasta or a slice of tiramisu.
