Carlo Cracco, one of Italy's best-known chefs is to make his London debut with a new restaurant to be set in Eataly, in Broadgate in the City of London.
Cracco, whose eponymous restaurant Cracco in Galleria is in the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle in Milan, is known for his creative and pioneering cuisine which has helped shape modern Italian fine dining. Cracco is not afraid to push the boundaries of what he can get away with when it comes to updating and tweaking Italian traditions.
The Vicenza-born chef is a household name in Italy also thanks to his appearances on MasterChef Italia where playing the role of a stern and serious chef brought him to national notoriety. While Carlo Cracco runs several other restaurants outside Milan, including one in Porto Fino, this is the chef's first venture in London.
Eataly opened in 2021 in Broadgate in the City of London in a 42,000 square foot (3,900 space (39,0002) The Italian food and beverage retail chain specializes in artisanal Italian products. The new restaurant Terra by Cracco will feature a newly designed menu by Cracco which will include the chef’s famous soft eggs—uovo al tartufo. Guests can choose main courses from the great Italian traditions including risotto Milanese, a saffron risotto with smoked bone marrow; and cotaletta alla Londinese, a breaded lamb chop served with lemon and season vegetables. The dessert offering will include a nuvola tiramisu, with a 'cloud of mascarpone,' marsala-soaked lady fingers, and cacao dusting.
