The Michelin Guide for Taipei 2019 was announced today with a total of 24 establishments making the list.
There are three new two star restaurants and four new one stars. Le Palais retains its three star in the second edition of the Michelin Guide Taipei.
Making an entrance to the guide with two stars is Sushi Aamito by chef Shogo Amamoto, the brother of Chef Masamichi Amamoto of the two-starred restaurant Higashiazabu Amamoto in Tokyo. The restaurant has only 12 seats and is very difficult to get a reservation for. Amamoto serves an omakase menu.
Two restaurants make the jump from one star to two - Taïrroir, by chef Kai How hi, plays with traditional Taiwanese cuisine with a modern twist, but always respecting the past. The other is RAW by Chef Andre Chiang and chef Alain Huang, who also reinterpret Taiwanese food in a modern way.
“The dining scene in Taipei is evolving at a great pace. Our inspectors were not only impressed by the standard of local Taiwanese cuisine, but also by the global influences being imported by the very talented and innovative local chefs, which together will no doubt entice food lovers from around the world, ” - Gwendal Poullennec, International Director, Michelin Guides.
Shoun RyuGin and The Guest House both hold on to their two stars while Le Palais, retains its three stars, which remains the only three star restaurant in Tapei.
