The Michelin Guide for New York 2019 highlighted a number of restaurants, some new and some elevated from the 2018 guide, there were four new two-Michelin-star and 13 new one-Michelin-star restaurants.
A good mix of Mexican and Asian or Asian-inspired restaurants made up the list of newly starred additions. These were Claro and Oxomoco (Mexican), Sushi Nakazawa, Kosaka, Noda, Okuda, and Sushi Noz (Japanese), Tuome and Bouley at Home (Asian-inspired) as well as the Korean noodle soup shop Jeju Noodle Bar, which became the first noodle bar in the United States to claim a Michelin star.
The four new two star restaurants are Gabriel Kreuther, Ichimura at Uchū, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Tetsu Basement (now closed). Noteworthy is that chef Joël Robuchon has been able to gain Michelin stars even after his passing- his L’Atelier debuted at two stars and his Le Grill de Joël Robuchon joined the ranks of the one star restaurants.
Take a look at some dishes from some of the newly starred restaurants below.
