The Michelin Guide is to expand its Thailand offering following its inaugural guide to Bangkok released late last year.
The Michelin Guide to Bangkok 2019 will not only focus on the capital city, but also the coastal city of Phuket, a popular spot for Western tourists, and the province of Phang-Nga, also in southern Thailand.
The Michelin Guide to Bangkok 2018 awarded stars to 17 different eateries, including three, two stars (Gaggan, Le Normandie and Mezzaluna) and one star to possibly the city's most famous street food spot, Jay Fai, the owner of which has since expressed regret at having been included.
The Guide, which is produced in partnership with the tourism authority of Thailand, is part of Michelin's wider expansion into Asia, which has seen the famous French tyre comapny recently launch its first guide a Taipei, to sit alongside existing guides to Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong & Macau, Tokyo and Kyoto & Osaka.
