The inaugural Michelin Guide to Seoul 2017 has been unveiled; with two restaurants achieving the coveted three star rating.
Gaon in Gangnam and La Yeon at The Shilla Hotel, both Korean restaurants, were awarded the accolade at the first attempt, with the former offering a highly praised take on Korea’s royal past, serving dishes based on the daily meals of the kings of the Joseon era (1392 – 1910).
Overall, 24 restaurants were awarded stars, including three two stars – Pierre Gagnaire, Kwon Sook Soo, and Gotgan – and 19 one stars, plus 36 Bib Gourmand ratings for restaurants that offer great value for money dining in the eyes of Michelin.
This year has also seen the release of inaugural guides to Shanghai, Washington, D.C. and Singapore.
