It's the hottest news of the summer: a Sriracha movie is coming soon! Who knew this once obscure but deliciously spicy condiment would make it to the big screen?
Hailed as an anthem for Sriracha lovers, the short documentary will zoom in on the ''fascinating origins of this beloved hot sauce, and the people who it,'' according to film's website. The film is being directed by Illionois filmmaker Griffin Hammond.
Sriracha, which is great on anything from omelettes to hot dogs, is the IT condiment of the moment. The hot sauce is made from red jalapeños from California and produced by Huy Fong Foods Inc., a company founded in 1980.
Hammond has already recorded interviews with Randy Clemens, author of The Sriracha Cookbook, and the college student who suggested the Sriracha flavor for Lay's potato chips. For the latest info, pay a visit to the film's Facebook page.
The film is expected to hit the big screen in September. Sriracha nachos and popcorn, anyone?
