Burritos are a joy to eat, but it can be a challenge to keep all those ingredients inside that flour tortilla. More often than not, you end up having to scoop up the discarded beef, refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese off the plate with your fingers. Add sour cream and chilli sauce and it can be a messy business indeed.
But all that may be a thing of the past. Students at the John Hopkins University have unveiled their invention to keep your burrito tightly wrapped while cooking and eating, and it's called Tastee Tape.
Tastee Tape is an edible adhesive tape designed to stick firmly to the flour tortilla, keeping it closed like an envelope so you can enjoy your burrito at your desk or on the go, without losing any of the good stuff.

The team, made up of JHU chemical and biomolecular engineering students, Tyler Guarino, Marie Eric, Rachel Nie, and Erin Walsh, tested a multitude of natural ingredients to come up with the finished tape that is edible, safe and yet strong enough to hold a bursting burrito together while you wrap your chops around it.
Because of a patent pending, the team are unable to reveal the formula for Tastee Tape. However, they did share that it is made of "a food-grade fibrous scaffold and an organic adhesive". Using it is simple - you just peel of a strip of tape, wet it thoroughly and apply it to your tortilla, taco or gyro. And that's a wrap.
