The eighth edition of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by Acqua Panna and S.Pellegrino, will take place in the Saga Prefecture of Japan on 24 March 2020.
The city of Takeo will form the culinary epicentre of the annual countdown of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2020 list as well as hosting a number of events in the build-up to the ceremony where the leading luminaries of the Asian food world will unite.
This will be the first time the event has been hosted in the Saga Prefecture on Japan's Kyushu island and will be a great opportunity for the assembled guests to discover its rich culinary culture, local agriculture and trading history.
Speaking of the move William Drew Director of Content for Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, says: “We are thrilled that Saga Prefecture will host the 2020 edition of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna. Steeped in tradition and nature, this area of Japan is home to rich culinary heritage and agricultural provenance. Attendees at this year’s awards ceremony will have an opportunity to visit idyllic rural destinations and experience a taste of Japan in its most authentic form.”
Alongside the awards ceremony, the 2020 program will see a new edition of the chef discussion platform, #50BestTalks on 23 March, as well as a series of immersive food and culture expeditions exploring the locality.
In addition to the restaurant list, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants also honours individual award winners, including Asia’s Best Female Chef and Asia’s Best Pastry Chef, sponsored by Valrhona, as well as the recipients of the American Express Icon Award, Miele One To Watch Award and the peer-voted Chefs’ Choice Award, sponsored by Estrella Damm.
The awards ceremony was first launched in 2013 and has since been hosted in Singapore (2013-2015), Bangkok, Thailand (2016 and 2017) and Macao (2018 and 2019).
