Cocktails need not be covered in edible flowers nor full-size burgers to reign supreme. The Lady Luck cocktail is a case in point. The most popular cocktail at Maybe Sammy, Sydney, is made of a delicious concoction of fruits, a touch of smooth, and a side of dreams, literally.
Thankfully, Stefano Catino, of the hit Sydney bar, was happy to share the recipe with us. Catino and his team at Maybe Sammy are riding high off their recent win at the prestigious World's 50 Best Bars 2019, as the only Aussie bar to make it in the list. Not only that - they also nabbed the awards' Best Bar in Australasia title. An exciting feat, considering that Maybe Sammy is barely a year old.

The Lady Luck is a fruity, crowd-pleasing cocktail fragrant with notes of mango, orange, maraschino, and refreshing thanks to apple and lemon juices.
It is served with no fancy garnishes, but at Maybe Sammy, they will bring you a little hand cream in a fancy container for you to 'flavour' your hand. Smell, as you sip - it's all about the experience, Catino says.

What you will need:
The list of ingredients for the Lady Luck cocktail is surprisingly straightforward. They are:
- mango-infused vodka;
- maraschino liqueur;
- Cointreau;
- Pink Lady apple juice;
- freshly squeezed lemon juice;
- egg white, and
- soda water.
The mango vodka is nothing fancy - you can create this the night before with dried mango slices and a vodka of your choice. Add the mango to the vodka, think 100 g of dried mango for every litre of vodka, and keep it in a glass bottle, giving the mix a shake every now and then. Leave it to infuse overnight, then strain and remove the mango. The resulting mango-infused vodka, being almost entirely vodka, will last almost indefinitely. So find a place for it on your bar, enjoy at your own pleasure.
How to make the Lady Luck cocktail:
Simply add all the ingredients except for the soda water to a shaker, then fill with ice.
Shake vigorously to foam the egg white.
Strain, preferably using a mesh strainer into a highball glass. Top with soda water.
Note that the actual highball glass used at Maybe Sammy runs on the smaller side, so keep that in mind before topping it with soda water. All you need is a quick splash.
Most importantly, trust your drink-buds.
