Steveston Pizza, a gourmet pizzeria in the Vancouver area, has broken the Guinness World Record for selling the most expensive pizza in the world, CTV Vancouver reports.
Just what does it take to create the world's finest, most luxurious and extravagant pizza? Lots of rare seafood, apparently. Steveston's $450 pizza is a 12-inch pie featuring Lobster Thermidor, black Alaskan cod, smoked salmon, tiger prawns and Russian Osetra caviar.
"It's not your usual Friday night pizza," owner Nader Hatami told CTV Vancouver. The pizza surpassed the previous Guinness World Record held by none other than celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay for his $178 white truffle pizza with fontina cheese.
If you want to indulge in the most expensive pizza in the world keep in mind your fancy pie must be pre-ordered a day in advance. In case you are curious, the next less expensive item on Steveston's menu is a $120 pizza with roasted garlic, Icelandic scampi, smoked steelhead and lobster ratatouille. However, a regular cheese pizza will set you back just $14.
Editor's note: Nino's restaurant in New York City reportedly sells a $1,000 lobster-studded pie. However, the restaurant has yet to be inducted into the Guinness World Records for selling the most expensive pizza in the world.
