It's about time someone decided to make a documentary of James Beard, the godfather of modern American gastronomy. The upcoming film is titled America's First Foodie: The Incredible life of James Beard and is directed by Beth Federici.
The documentary is currently in production and will use archival footage and rare photos of Beard to chronicle a century of food through "menu-like chapters," according to the film's website.
In this video trailer you'll see food giants like Dana Corwin, Emeril Lagasse and Alice Waters share their thoughts of Beard's life and numerous accomplishments as a chef, cookbook author and educator.
