One of Rome’s most beloved restaurants and salumerias is open for business in New York City.
Roscioli NYC has opened its doors at 43 MacDougal Street in the West Village and brings its Italianismo with high-quality wines, cured meats and a whole world of delicacies. The world-famous Antico Forno Roscioli in Rome, serving artisan pizza, pasta, bread and meats as well as a plethora of local specialities, has been beloved by tourists and locals since the 1970s, opened a second location in 2004 with Salumeria Roscioli and now makes the trip across the Atlantic to plant a flag in New York.
The new Roscioli is in conjunction with Rimessa Roscioli, the 2017 wine-centric spin-off, with Alessandro Pepe joining Ariel Arce (Air’s Champagne Parlor, Tokyo Record Bar), with a $105 tasting menu offered across two seatings a night by reservation only.
Having taken the reins of the Roscioli business, the next generation of Alessandro and Pierluigi Roscioli are joined in their New York venture by their sister Maria Elena.
Roscioli NYC will give New York diners access to the finest Italian products with dishes like panzanella beside burrata served with Calabrian cherry tomatoes; carbonara; polpetti with mushroom broth; and tiramisu. Wine is a major part of the offering here and there are considered pairings for everything from Russine wines in Basilicata or a Tuscan selection from Contucci winery, among many, many more.
A beautiful cantina wine-cellar setting makes for a world-away escape under the streets of New York, stuffed full of Italian charm but with real NYC chops.
