Most lamps give off light when turned on. Not this unique lamp made by Swedish designer Alexander Lervik.
This delectable chocolate lamp slowly heats up and begins melting, revealing rays of light from within, almost like a minituare sunrise. In about 15 minutes, all of the chocolate will have melted into a solid chunk.
It's an interestingly delicious concept introduced this week at Stockholm's Furniture Fair 2013. It was designed by Lervik but produced by Swedish LED team SAAS Instruments.
''The lamp was initially cube-shaped, but once we determined how chocolate melts together we modified the shape to resemble a cut-off pyramid. I find it poetic, with complete darkness at first and then a tiny ray of light penetrates the dark chocolate,'' the designer explained on Design Boom.
