Ice cream fans will be able to get their fix of the Roca brothers' eclectic sweets Stateside, with the opening of Rocambolesc Gelateria, in Houston - the first in the US.
Opening soon in Uptown Park, the new Willy Wonka-esque store from Spain's most creative culinary trio will serve a characteristically unusual and fantastical offering, to surprise and entice guests. This marks the first venture abroad for the brothers - chef Joan Roca, pastry chef Jordi Roca, and sommelier Josep Roca, from world-famous El Celler de Can Roca in Girona - who are constantly found at the cutting edge of gastronomy.
Soft-serve ice cream will come in classic flavours like milk chocolate and hazelnut, baked apple, vanilla, and plain frozen yogurt, will be joined by seasonal creations, topped off on whim, with sparkly coloured stars, pop rocks, blood orange and guava jams, candy floss, and violet clouds, reports Eater. Take-home tubs of ice cream will stretch to at least 18 different flavours, from espresso laced with Bailey's liqueur, to a coconut sorbet with the aroma of violets.
Expect more of their individually handcrafted fun-shaped lollies, like the Columbus Finger, the Happy Lolly, and the Golden Hand Lolly. There will also be an assortment of playful chocolates and bonbons to take home.
The brothers already have several Rocambolesc ice cream stores in Spain - two in Madrid, one in their hometown of Girona, and the latest in Barcelona. There is also Casa Cacao, a hotel complete with a chocolate factory and shop, opened last year in Girona.
