It seems we’re heading to a future in which diners pay for their meal quickly using a mobile device as soon as they’re ready to leave the restaurant.
Cover, a restaurant payment app that allows diners to check in at a restaurant and pay using the app, has raised $5.5 million in a recent round of funding.
The app has already been adopted by over 100 restaurants in New York and San Francisco. Reports suggest the new money will be used to work on redesigning the app and attracting new users and restaurants to the service.
Perhaps one of the best features of Cover is that it allows groups of diners to simple split the bill and it will do all the maths for you, avoiding those awkward moments that can occur at the end of a meal.
You can download the app for free and there’s a list of restaurants that accept payment online. The app is only available in New York and San Francisco at the moment but with the new funding we expect them to be rolling out to new cities very soon.
