‘Taste the Island’ is a 12-week campaign that is being dubbed the ‘world’s longest food festival'.
Kicking off today at the Taste of Cork festival in the southern city ‘Taste the Island’ brings some 700 food and drink events between now and November 30th.

Revellers can find a wide choice of dinners, tastings and experiences all over the country such as a harvest moon supper at Hook Lighthouse in Wexford, feast at the foot of Mount Errigal in Donegal, kids' kitchen takeover in Kinsale or oyster shucking in Galway.
The initiative is part of the Irish tourist board Failte’s efforts to underline the countries credentials as a food destination. Ireland has rediscovered its culinary identity in recent years and with some of the best fresh produce found anywhere in the world there is a world of possibility opening up to chefs and diners alike on the island.
The initiative is well-timed, at the harvest time, when fresh seasonal produce is at its most plentiful but also leading up to Food On The Edge which has officially launched and takes place n Galway on 21st and 22nd of October.
