Italian gastronomy has been conquering Paris's food scene for a few years: the city is awash with Italian restaurants, pizzerias and grocery stores allowing lovers of Italian cuisine to taste 100% authentic Italian specialities in the capital, from dawn till dusk.
And, as of Friday, April 12 Paris now boasts a new temple to Italian gastronomy: Eataly has arrived in the capital for the first time, in the heart of the Marais in rue Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie.
Founded by Italian Oscar Farinetti in 2007, the Eataly concept has been exported worldwide, from Tokyo to New York, Stockholm to Dubai, Sao Paolo, Los Angeles, etc. It's now finally landed in France, in partnership with Galeries Lafayette.
As announced last January, Eataly Paris Marais promises to satisfy the most ardent Italophile foodies with its rich and diverse gastronomic offering.
Here's what we can find in this new Italian destination that's already creating a buzz in the French capital.

The Dolce Vita in the heart of Paris
Boasting 2500 m2 of floor space there's a whole lot of space to discover Italy's finest fare in three defined areas. On the ground ,floor a huge grocery store offers aisles of 100% Italian products, as well as fresh pasta stalls, cold cuts from Parma, a mozzarella and cheese bar. A bakery also opens from 7am selling bread made with Mulino Marino flour from the oldest mill in Piedmont. While, a Piazza can be found in the middle, creating a pleasant space where to enjoy gourmet delights seated around a high table, sipping a glass of wine from the Vineria.
In the heart of the store, all the transalpine regions will be highlighted in turn, starting with Piedmont.
On the first floor, visitors can taste pizzas cooked over a wood fire, and homemade pasta, always cooked "al dente" ... it goes without saying. There's also, the Scuola, or cooking school, where enthusiasts can learn to prepare their favourite Italian specialities in hands-on classes.
Italian wine reigns in the basement: there's a vast wine cellar that offering a selection of wines from all over Italy, and the Osteria del Vino, a gourmet restaurant where visitors can feast on the flavours of the Alps.

MERCATO AND GELATO
To complete the Italian experience, visitors can also take a trip to the outdoor market located in the inner courtyard of the store and discover fresh Italian products sourced direct. And of course, it would be impossible to leave the temple of Italian gastronomy without first having a coffee at Bar Torino or/and enjoying a delicious homemade ice cream by Venchi, the famous Italian chocolate house.
