Next time you've got your nose deep into a glass of wine and there's an aroma there that you can't quite place, you might want to refer to this wine aroma chart, which lists the 100 most common aromas found in wines today.
The infographic, from Burgundy producer Bouchard Ainé & Filsaprico, lists the 100 most common wine aromas, handily, from A to Z.
Wine aromas are three fold: primary aromas that come from the grapes themselves; secondary aromas, which develop during the winemaking process; and tertiary aromas that develop in the bottle. These wine aromas are similar in chemical composition to the aromas of fruit, spices, etc.
So now you've had this very brief wine aromas 101, it's time to get sniffing!
