Impressing guests with your delicious homemade dishes is one thing, but imagine their surprise when you pop a bottle of your own homemade sparkling wine, one that’s only taken a couple of weeks to make.
A new wine making kit called MySecco promises “crisp sparkling wine with delicate citrus notes” in just 14 days. All you have to do is “pour warm water and the included yeast and syrup sachets into the bottle and give it a swirl,” with no mess and no fuss. Makers Victor’s are billing it as “the world's first make-your-own single bottle of sparkling wine” kit, Food and Wine reports, and are attempting to tie it in with the home brewing and craft boom.
But, and it’s a big but, priced at £19.99 ($27) it’s actually more expensive than many great sparkling wines, nor do we know how it’s going to taste yet, despite the makers’ assurances of a “premium” product. But an interesting Xmas present, no doubt.
Can you guess which country drinks the most wine?
