There’s nothing quite like a crumpet, is there, at least, if you’re a Brit. The classic griddle cake, particularly popular in the UK, where it is eaten at any time of the day, usually with a nice cup of tea, can be slathered with butter and/or various toppings and is a quick and warming snack.
How could it get any better? The simple answer is chocolate. A bakery in North London is producing chocolate crumpets and people are going crazy for them. Knead sells the divine-looking creations, which are a whopping 70% chocolate, from their two London locations, as well as from the Selfridges Food Hall.
BBC Good Food say the flavour is “rich and deep and the texture slightly gooey when heated,” while recommending maple butter as a topping – wow.
