Have you heard of golden milk? This immune-boosting beverage is one of the best things you can enjoy for good health – whether it’s beating a nasty cold, tackling arthritis or trying to prevent cancer.
Golden milk obtains its beautiful hue from turmeric, an Indian spice highly regarded for its anti-inflammatory, anti-cancerous, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.
Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, is fat soluble so milk is the perfect vehicle for making this elixir.
How To Make Turmeric Golden Milk
Making golden milk is incredibly easy. There are many variations - some with ginger, cinnamon and/or cardamom. But here’s what you’ll need to make a simple batch of golden milk:
a cup of milk (dairy or plant based)
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder (or an inch of grated turmeric root)
1 teaspoon of honey or another natural sweetener such as maple syrup
2-3 black peppercorns (which helps increase the absorption of curcumin)
Simply put all the ingredients in a pot and bring to a simmer. Whisk well to dissolve the turmeric in the warm milk. That’s it!
