Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio is a busy man. His restaurant empire stretches across the globe, he's got a documentary in the can and another on its way and is planning on launching a line of hotels. But there's one more thing on his bucket list: opening a restaurant in Chicago.
Acurio's Tanta franchise is headed to the Windy City, according to reports from Peruvian Food. Last year, the chef opened another Tanta restaurant in Barcelona, which has been well received so far. The restaurant serves classic Peruvian fare like ceviche, lomo saltado, ají de gallina and anticuchos.
Tanta was founded in Lima as a place where diners could enjoy affordable Peruvian food. Located at 118 West Grand, Tanta Chicago will be opening its doors in July.
Acurio's flagship restaurant Astrid & Gastón currently ranks 14th on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.
