The Culinary Institute of America frequently publishes great videos depicting food and wine culture around the world. The school's latest video takes the viewer through the expansive history of Spain's Rioja wine since the 19th century.
Rioja wine comes from La Rioja, a region in northern Spain that is divided into three regions: Rioja Alta, Rioja Baja and Rioja Alavesa.
You'll learn in the video that although Rioja has long being associated with Bordeaux, its wines have lot more in common with those produced in Burgundy.
The region has experienced a surge in quality wine making as grape growers have developed a deeper sense of terroir. However, challenges abound as the region's farmers try to adapt to climate change.
