Italian pastry chef Matteo Stucchi’s world is dessert, so it’s fitting then that in his spare time he likes to create new worlds using it. The 23-year-old from Monza likes to add miniature figures to classic desserts like tiramisu, chocolate fondant and profiteroles to bring them to life and create beguiling everyday scenes, food art that seems almost too good to eat.
Every Thursday and Friday, Stucchi uploads his creations to Instagram under the handle @idolcidigulliver. Sticky jam becomes the ideal fishing pond, Piedmontese Baci di Dama – little filled hazlenut Italian biscuits – are fashioned into an oversized barbell for a minute powerlifter and biscotti become rocks to traverse for our miniature heroes.
And they’re a hit, drawing thousands of likes on Instagram. But, didn’t anyone ever tell Stucchi not to play with his food? Thankfully, it seems not. See some of his creations below.
Can you guess these foods in super close-up?
