Europe comes out on top in the TripAdvisor list of the world’s best restaurants. Spain, France, UK and Italy all have three entries to the world’s 20 top restaurants while New York has two. Thailand, Peru, Mexico also have one each in the Michelin star heavy listing that is compiled from users’ reviews of their dining experiences. Au Crocodile in Strasbourg holds top spot, while Martin Berasategui and El Celler de Can Roca in Spain make up the top three.
1. AU CROCODILE, STRASBOURG, FRANCE
“The revival of a 'temple of gastronomy' under the culinary leadership of a young chef with a rare talent.”
This Strasburg restaurant housed in a building dating back to 1659, Au Crocodile does a great line in French classics including foie gras, lobster and frogs’ legs. Once upon a time the restaurant held three stars under chef Emile Jung, but it now holds just one under chef Franck Pelux.

2.MARTIN BERASATEGUI, LASARTE, SPAIN
“The best combinations of flavors we have ever experienced. The meal was culinary poetry.”
The most Michelin starred Spanish chef Martín Berasategui Olazábal’s eponymous restaurant in the Basque country serves season ingredients with the flair of a true genius. The new menu for 2019 is currently under development and will be available March 10th.

3.EL CELLER DE CAN ROCA, GIRONA, SPAIN
“Outstanding. Brilliant. Sublime. Perfect. What more is there to say?”
No surprise that Joan, Jordi and Josep Roca’s El Cellar makes the top three. The restaurant, which was opened in 1986 has consistently topped best restaurant lists the world over and the customers agree.

4. RESTAURANT SAT BAINS, NOTTINGHAM, UNITED KINGDOM
“Wonderful lunch at the Kitchen Bench”
Satwant Singh "Sat" Bains was French-trained before returning to Great Britain and opening Sat Bains in Nottingham under a flyover. The chef holds two Michelin stars but always stays true to its British and working-class roots.
