Dan Hunter's Brae, in Birreruga, a tiny town of less than 1000 people approximately two hours drive from Melbourne has again topped a list of Australia's 100 Best Restaurants.
The restaurant, which is housed in a mid-19th century farmhouse on a 30-acre plot of land on which much of the produce for the restaurant is cultivated, also claimed the title last year and currently sits at number 58 on the extended World's 50 Best Restaurants list.
Hunter fell into cooking after taking a chance on a job advert in a rainy British town, as he revealed here, and boasts Head Chef at Mugaritz in Spain amongst his previous roles.
The Australia's Top 100 Restaurants list presented by The Australian Financial Review is voted for by chefs from 500 restaurants across the country, who have this year chosen Ester in Sydney as the second best restaurant in the country, followed by Saint Peter, another Sydney restaurant in third, Ben Shewry's Attica on the outskirts of Melbourne in fourth, and Adelaide's Africola in fifth.
