The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018 sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna is back and you can watch it live on this page on 19 June from 8.45pm CEST via our live-stream!
The ceremony this year will be taking place in Bilbao, in the Basque region of Spain, an area revered for its gastronomical prowess and home to some of the world’s most acclaimed restaurants.
The ceremony itself will be taking place at the city's Euskalduna Palace, but there will also be a number of events before the reveal of the influential World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, including #50BestTalks at the Basque Culinary Center in San Sebastián on 17 June, featuring seven of the world’s best chefs – Joan Roca, Dan Barber, Clare Smyth, Eneko Atxa, Christina Tosi, Gaggan Anand and Paul Pairet – and a special 'Food meets Art' conversation presented by S.Pellegrino, which is due to be held at Bilbao’s famous Guggenheim Museum on 18 June.
So, who will claim the title of World’s Best Restaurant this year? Will New York’s Eleven Madison Park hold on to the prize they claimed for the first time in 2017 – take a look at the 2017 list here – or will we see a brand new World’s Best Restaurant?
What we do know is that three awards have already revealed ahead of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018: elite Vodka World’s Best Female Chef is the aforementioned Clare Smyth, the British chef who heads up Core restaurant in London and previously ran Gordon Ramsay’s flagship in the city; Gastón Acurio, the legendary Peruvian chef who has helped spread his country’s cuisine around the world picks up the Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award; and SingleThread in California, a restaurant and inn, serving a Japanese Kaiseki-inspired menu using products largely grown at its own farm, is this year’s One to Watch.
