The Roca brothers from Girona's famed El Celler de Can Roca, a two time World’s Best Restaurant, will be preparing a menu for over 1000 guests at Elton John’s post-Oscars party in LA next month it's been announced.
John’s post-Oscars bash in aid of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, taking place on 4 March, is one of the glitziest events of Oscars night and last year raised $7million.
Joan Roca, who will be there on the night to supervise proceedings, says the menu will be “very ‘flexible’ in order to adapt to the very different cultures, styles and ways of understanding food of the people attending the event,” reports Catalan News.
Guests can expect an assortment of appetisers, four courses and dessert, including a special cannelloni following the Roca brothers’ mother’s recipe, a choice of Bass à la Chardonnay with hazelnut, truffle and lemon gnocchi or fillet of beef with red wine and vegetables, a salad with Catalan cheese, and Jordi Roca’s 'Orange Chromaticism' dessert, pictured below. Last year's menu was designed by Gordon Ramsay.
Several of the chefs tasked with executing the dinner have already flown over to Girona to meet Roca and to start getting to grips with some of his techniques, while the ingredients will come from both Spain and California.
In 2017, LA-based chef Wolfgang Puck prepared a 50-course dinner for the famous post-Awards Governors Ball.
