Chennai–based artist Shilpa Mitha makes miniature clay food representing some of the most famous dishes of India and then sells her creations online as fridge magnets. And while we’ve previously introduced you to actual Japanese miniature food, looking at Mitha’s work it’s hard to tell what’s real and what isn’t.

Trading as Sueño Souvenir, Mitha makes her incredibly detailed and tiny works of art out of a synthetic material called ‘dry clay’. Her miniature clay food includes dosa, mini tiffins and karimeen, the whole fried fish popular in the southern Indian state of Kerala. She also makes clay miniatures of Western fast food and also these delicately colourful macarons (below).

There are other artists doing similarly amazing things with clay miniature food, Israel’s Shay Aaron for example, but these have really blown us away and may just take the proverbial mini biscuit.
