Dubbed the "Guggneheim of wine", Bordeaux has unveiled its brand new purpose built hi–tech wine museum, La Cité du Vin (City of Wine), boasting the largest and most extensive coverage of wine in the world, along with a world–class theme park style delivery to match.
From the eye catching rotund shiny exterior (resembling wine swirling in a glass) at the riverside location, to the amusement park modelled immersive interiors, fine drinking and dining options, this is a wine museum like no other, and where better to call home than the world's wine capital of Bordeaux.

No expense has been spared on both the architecture and the cutting edge technology where a meticulously designed mult–sensory experience appeals to young and old, wine experts and novices alike. With a $92 million dollar budget well spent experts in entertainment experiences were employed in the project alongside oenophiles, historians and scientists.
It's not a French centric affair either – inside can be found wine from 80 countries. According to CEO Philippe Massol, it’s “a place for the whole world of wine.”
Highlights include the shop stocked with a whopping 800 wines from around the world, an immersive boat ride through the history of wine, state of the art tasting rooms, a bouquet sniffing game and don't miss out on the “chair of despair”, where you get to empathise with famous people describing their hangovers. Two restaurants and a wine bar with spectacular wine lists to match are the crowning glory.
