The Sims 4: Dine Out is an add–on to the latest instalment in the popular series of life simulation video games, and allows you to virtually dine-out, build and manage your own restaurant or chain of restaurants, hire staff and design menus, and even – deep breath – take photographs of your meals to hang in a virtual gallery. The role you can’t take in the restaurant game however, is that of chef.
For the uninitiated, The Sims is one of the best selling video games series of all time in which you have to manage the lives of people, or ‘Sims,’ day to day – build their homes, address their moods, plan their activities and influence how they interact with other Sims. The games have got progressively more in-depth with every instalment, and this is how we find ourselves at Dine Out.

In restaurant owner mode, you collect points every time someone enjoys and pays for a meal, which over time makes you more successful, while you must also discipline or reward your staff depending on how they perform. Diners in the restaurant game can try special experimental food to gain extra rewards and even propose to a fellow Sim on a date.
You can watch a trailer for the game below, which, even if you’re not a huge video game fan, looks pretty engrossing. It’s no substitute for the real thing of course, but you can’t go out for dinner every night of the week – can you?
The Sims 4: Dine Out is released 7 June via Electronic Arts.
