If your watch is permanently set to beer o’clock, here’s a watering hole that warrants the excuse of putting in some overtime.
Setting the World Record for the largest number of beers on tap at any one time, the modestly named Raleigh Beer Garden in North Carolina, USA, is one for the go-to list of any self-professed beer fans.
An understated wooden exterior of the downtown Raleigh drinking establishment belies its world record breaking credentials inside. Secreting an awe-inspiring 366 local and international draught beers from wall mounted taps this is a bar with beer in barrel loads.
At ground level North Carolina’s local craft beers are on show, all 144 of them. If you manage to make it upstairs you’ll be greeted by another 222 taps from across the country and around the world.
A hearty looking menu looks set to soak up all those pints, including fearful looking beer battered pretzels, alongside standard bar fare like cheese fries, pizzas, salads and burgers.
Step outside and there’s a generous terrace with rustic wooden furniture, much of it made from Pecan trees that once stood on the site, as well as a rooftop bar for a more salubrious evening.
With capacity to increase the beer selection to over 400 in the near future, it begs the question, who's going to be the world record breaker to try them all?
