The Florilège restaurant in Tokyo has been picked as the recipient of the One to Watch Award ahead of the announcement of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list 2016. Florilège is owned and run by chef Hiroyasu Kawate, who will pick up his award on February 29th at the W Hotel in Bangkok during the fourth annual Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants ceremony, that will be livestreamed on Fine Dining Lovers here.
In a release from the awards company, they say that it’s the first time that a restaurant outside the 50 best list has been picked as the One to Watch. Speaking about the award, William Drew, Group Editor of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, said: “Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants is committed to inspiring young talent and showcasing up-and-coming restaurants. In keeping with this goal, we adjusted the selection criteria to recognise a restaurant outside of the 50 Best ranking to emphasise the quality of young talent in the region and to shine a spotlight on a restaurant of the future.”
The 22-seat restaurant was opened by Kawate in 2009 and cooks French centred cuisine.
