We’ve looked at a number of food scanning devices in the past year but the latest to catch our eye is this gadget aimed at detecting gluten in any food.
Called Nima, the device works by scanning a sample of food and displaying a happy or sad face depending on whether it contains gluten.
The idea, which comes from Shireen Yates and Scott Sundvor at 6Sensor Labs, is to develop the technology for release in 2016 and then to focus it on detecting other ingredients that people are allergic to, such as peanuts.
With more and more people displaying allergies to certain products and some allergies being life threatening, devices like this are sure to find a happy home in many a household.
