The chance to dine with Jiro Ono at his three-Michelin starred sushi restaurant in Tokyo is the dream of the most hardened food lovers.
Seen as one of the toughest restaurant reservations to score in the world you might be surprised to know that a child has become perhaps the youngest person in the world to ever snag a reservation at the restaurant.
The story is told in full by Amy McKeever on Travel + Leisure as Colleen Sandaluk tells how her son Clark fell in love with the sushi master when he watched the famous Jiro Dreams of Sushi documentary at the age of just six-years-old.
The interview explains how the Sandaluk family are constantly travelling for work and that on a recent trip to Tokyo they were lucky enough to make a reservation for three at the restaurant through a concierge at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
Apprently the dinner nearly didn’t happen as the restaurant staff thought that Clark was too young to dine at the restaurant. However, Jiro was later impressed with the child’s appetite after he managed to wolf down the 20-course tasting menu - remarking ‘what a stomach’, his mum explained.
