It seems that as well as sharing some of the downright dirty dollops of so called food passed on to us by airlines while travelling the skies, people have also taken to using the popular hashtag ‘#PlaneFood’ - highlighted this week by The Mail Online - to show off some of the more delightful dining options offered in the air.
We understand that most of the pictures shared are by those rocking first or business class but they do go to show that pictures like the so called meal below are not how food has to be while flying.
Here’s a selection of some of the best:

It is very hard to make food that tastes great in the air. Food is duller on a plane because of a number of factors: air pressure, the loud sound of the engine, air conditioning, they all make us less sensitive to salt and other flavours. However, certain flavours such as tomato, chilli and cheese can have a better taste because they maintain a strong flavour even inside the pressurised box that is essentially a plane.
We were lucky enough to fly onboard a plane with 3 Michelin Starred chef Andreas Caminada cooking the meal and, although the chef also noted the dulling affect that a plane can have on flavour, he managed to deliver a very tasty meal, one so good that we think maybe our pics might just win this PlaneFood hashtag.
