Enrique Olvera has been chosen to receive The Lifetime Achievement award ahead of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants ceremony in Mexico later this month.
The Mexican chef who runs the Pujol restaurant in Mexico City and more recently Cosme in New York, will receive the award at the upcoming ceremony on September 23rd.
In just 15 years, Olvera has turned Pujol into the number one restaurant in Mexico with dishes that riff on the classics and traditions of his home country while wrapping them nicely with his modern cooking background and pursuit of clean flavors.
He has personally helped influence the rise of Mexican gastronomy to the level at which it sits today and his annual Mesamerica festivals have helped place Mexico and its cuisine on the map in terms of being one of the central hubs for the development of gastronomy in Latin America.
He opened the Cosme restaurant in New York in 2014 to almost instant acclaim with the restaurant becoming one of the first stages in The States to truly sing the song of real, modern Mexican cuisine.
