Say goodbye to unreliable camping gas stoves and cumbersome BBQs and say hello to the lightweight portable 'Solari' cooker.
Solari is a new 100% fuel free, solar powered, portable cooker designed by American student Bodin Hon at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, as part of a Master's project to represent the future of sustainable cooking.
Hon spoke to Dezeen Magazine about the functionality of the small cauldron-like cooker which is still in the prototype stage. It has one carrying handle that folds out into a stand and a heat-absorbing cast aluminium cooker which warms up when exposed to concentrated sunlight.
The Solari is currently in testing phases before being made commercially available. We think you'll agree that cooking with solar power has plenty of potential, the sun's energy has already been harnessed by one restaurant in Chile that cooks with solar ovens.
